Let the Potter-Fest begin!

by: Mindy Hess | on: 2007-05-26 00:00:00
I have a confession to make. In recent months, I have become completely obsessed with Harry Potter.

I know, I know, I'm supposed to be all growns and such. But I will maintain the excuse that I want to write in a similar genre, and so I'm just studying J.K. Rowling's style . . . and the books rock!

But recently, I had a dream in which I actually WAS Harry. (I know what you're thinking, but it's actually quite common for me to dream that I'm a guy . . . and that's another matter entirely). In this dream I captured Voldemorte's wand, and was somehow able to splice it with my own, the two brother phoenix feather's creating a synergetic force, powerful enough to destroy the dark Lord.

I woke up, my heart pounding out of my chest, thinking "That's it! I know how to defeat Voldemorte!"

But then reality crept in and I realized I had been watching too much Full Metal Alchemist.

Regardless, I'd like to officially open the forum for Potter theories. Let's hear it people!Read more...

The Summer Blockbuster

by: Abinadi Ayerdis | on: 2007-05-25 00:00:00
I saw Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and I don't think either was bad. Additionally, neither was the best of their respective trilogy. Shrek was funny, but was a lot of the same stuff rehashed. Pirates was so convoluted and hard to follow. They were really pulling out all the stops; really, it was too much. Don't get me started on Spiderman III. Ew.

Ocean's Thirteen, The Bourne ultimatum, and Harry Potter will all be out soon. I have high hopes, and I really want them to be better than what we've been given thus far this summer.

The Playlist to end all Playlists (unless AZboy makes his)

True to form, Giullieta turns in her homework a month late. So I get a zero, it doesn’t matter. As always, I’m more concerned with the turnout than the timing. And I apologize for the length of what follows, but I somehow wanted to convey my true feelings regarding my relationship with music. Music is the bridge over which I’m carried through a story. It is the relationship left behind when all others fail. It is a testimony of my Creator, and his way of communicating sacred methods of creation to me.

After throwing out Marvin Gaye’s Got to Give it Up, Adam Ant’s Strip, and Jimmy Soul’s If you Want to be Happy, I have dwindled it down to the following, taking full advantage of the 20 song maximum. This list has been very carefully selected. It is a course painstakingly charted in order to take you through a journey that I hope can impart a portion of my being. Read more...

Why I'd Still Like to Marry Ann Coulter

by: Justin Mills | on: 2007-05-17 00:00:00
From AnnCoulter.com.

Ann is so cool and pretty and I have a crush on her. Her article after the death of Jerry Falwell is amazing and hits all the right points. Here's an instant classic right from the article:

Nothing is ever as "controversial" as yammering about Scripture as if, you know, it's the word of God or something.

I truly heart you, Ann.

Good tidings, comrades! After the SAFEclear pogrom program was gutted by kapitalist, libertarian pigs, our beloved Chairman Bill White and our other fine comrades in Houston (or Little Moscow as all good communists like to call it) seemed to be incapable of continuing the glorious revolution.

But! Starting with the red light cameras installed by brilliant head of KGB Harold Hurtt, the comrades in the Houston Communist Party have ignited the fire in the hearts of the people. And now, the party is pushing forward and will install even more cameras on the streets of Little Moscow to make sure that the shrewd kapitalist pigs do not hatch their evil schemes on the streets of our downtown areas! Those fatherless sons of whores are, as we speak, trying to undermine the efforts of our comrade, Harold Hurtt by saying that electronic monitoring of streets is invasive and totalitarian. But as Comrade Hurtt has said, if you're not doing anything wrong, why should you worry about it?"

Ah, it is a great time to be a communist and live in Houston! The glorious revolution continues!

Send Your Prayers!

It has been brought to my attention that our friend and Father Ranter, el Seco, has fallen on hard times. Earlier this week he went in for a routine wisdom teeth removal procedure. The results, in his own words, "I look like a chipmunk."

Our hearts go out to you, el Seco, in this time of difficulty and sheer humiliation.

A true hero...

I have recently become familiar with Neal Boortz. I've considered myself a conservative libertarian for a few years now. That being the case I love reading Mr. Boortz's Daily "Nuze." Today I found an article I must share. Also pushes me toward getting my concealed weapons lisence.

Life is good

This past weekend I had a party celebrating my birthday. It was a lot of fun. Two of my fellow ranters were able to attend, namely: Dubya and ArizonaBoy. I tell you what, there is nothing more fun that talking politics and girls with Dubya and ArizonaBoy late at night in your room. Great times! Thanks for coming, guys. I don't think there I know two better men than you, and I mean that.

Additionally, today is a special day. It commemorates the birth of our dear friend, and my mentor, Dubya. I won't say how old he turns today; I will only mention that a quarter of a century hit me hard, too. So, to Dubya: I hope you have a wonderful birthday, buddy. Celebrate it, because hey, it isn't everyday that a guy finishes off twenty-five percent of 100 years!

I have a few things to rant about.

1. Unclehood

That is right. I am an uncle. This past Monday my sister-in-law gave birth to a healthy and very cute baby boy named Aaron Michael. You can see pictures of him here.

I must admit that I couldn't be prouder. We are very pleased.

2. Queer Eye For the Straight Guy

I've been reading this book. I call it the gay book. I have to admit, it has lots of good ideas. Some of which I am using. I have been running them by Trooper first, however.

3. Cumpleaños

My birthday is coming up on May 6th. I will be turning 27. I have come to the decision that this is the last birthday that I will count. From now on, I will either get younger or not age at all.

I am having a birthday party on Saturday, May 5th to celebrate, and you are all invited. It is actually and triple birthday celebration here in Austin, TX with a couple of my friends here that have close birthdays. So clear your calendars and drive down to Austin and celebrate with me. It will be Saturday, May 5, at 8pm. Be there or be there.

That is all.
