Sam Houston State at University of Texas

by: Justin Mills | on: 2006-09-30 00:00:00
The Sam Houston State Bearkats are playing the Longhorns as we speak. It's a bloodbath. It's halfway through the second quarter and the score is 28-0 with the Longhorns in the lead.

This saddens me.

Entertainment at what cost?

by: Jennie Martin Howe | on: 2006-09-30 00:00:00
We, as humans, have sunk pretty low in seeking entertainment. If you thought Fear Factor was low, try China's ANIMAL OLYMPICS.

A drudge story tells it how it is:

"Chimpanzees are forced to play basketball and apparently lift huge weights, while a docile brown bear is dressed in a tutu while navigating a makeshift obstacle course in one of the strangest events ever to be staged.

The photographs are published for the first time today following outrage at earlier images which showed kangaroos being forced to take part in boxing matches with their supposed keepers and a monkey cycling while tied by the collar to the children's bike. Other events at the 'games' include a sea lion high jump and a tug of war between an elephant and members of the audience, with more than 300 animals taking part."

I wouldn't consider myself an animal activist, but I think I could draw the line here. Forcing animals to do these things for our entertainment...

I am not amused.

I could go on about the subject for hours... but because I don't want to get myself worked up, I will instead post a link to a column by a person who knows more then I do.

This list, if adhered to, will help you get the ladies.Read more...

Especially for Judge Grammar

I was asked a question, and am still at a complete loss for the answer (yes, yes, it's hard to admit):
If a word like McDonald's is already a possesive, but also a noun with the possesive included . . . how would you make that noun possesive? Read more...

New species discovered!

by: Jennie Martin Howe | on: 2006-09-12 00:00:00
"A new bird species has been found in India, the first time such a discovery has been made here in more than 50 years, an astronomer and keen bird watcher said Tuesday. The multicolored bird, Bugun Liocichla, was spotted in May in the remote Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in India's northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh near the border with China, said Ramana Athreya, a member of Mumbai's Natural History Society. So if we can just now find this bird that has been around this WHOLE time...Read more...
